ALEX AND TRAHANAS’ first foray into furniture, ‘Salone del Ricotta’ is a natural evolution for the brand who celebrates Mediterranean rituals at home.

Crafted from clay, a signature material to ALEX AND TRAHANAS, the 3-piece series of hand-built pieces create a rich formaggio aperitivo scene including a side table, a generous Champagne bath and an aperitivo bowl, which all explore a luminous ricotta texture.

After having the pleasure of enjoying many Mediterranean feasts, Co-founders and Creative Directors Alexandra Heard and Heleena Trahanas, delved deeper into exploring formaggio as their creative muse.

On a recent trip to Puglia, the pair explored artisanal ricotta making with local cheese makers. It was here, the avid formaggio lovers witnessed pillowy-soft fresh ricotta being piled into their casings. The texture, taste and form was left imprinted on their memory and has since inspired the series of objects for ‘Salone del Ricotta’ to be shown at Oigåll Projects, Design Vol. 2: Girls, Girls, Girls for Melbourne Design Week.
